Having strong healthy teeth is important for our child’s well-being. Proper oral care must begin as earlier as possible like the basic wiping of the baby’s gums with a clean piece of gauze.

When my baby’s tooth is about to come-out, I saw her uneasy feeling. She likes to bite her finger, murmuring something with a bit cry as if telling me that she is uncomfortable with what she has in her gums. To lessen her discomfort feeling due to teething, I gave her a teething toy chilled from the refrigerator. I see that by biting it gives her a relief. Sometimes, I rub her gums with a clean finger or a wet gauze.

So how to take care of your baby’s teeth?

Since my baby has few teeth already, I know that it will be prone to tooth decay if not taken cared properly. The followings are the things that I considered doing to prevent tooth decay:

The pacifier that my baby is using must be clean and without any trace of sweets.

I only give her plain milk and water when I bottle fed. I do not put sweetened drinks on it.

I brush her teeth according to the suitable brush on her stage. Note that you can see various kinds of brushing style specifically designed for your baby’s age and teeth stage. You can see this toothbrush in baby care section/department. Toothpaste is not necessary until the baby reach 2 years of age. Just a plain water and a specific brush will do.

The foreign exchange market demands high risk and fundamental analysis. One needs to know the language existing in the forex trading. The technicalities in the market can easily be understood, but the process involving the transactions may need one or more tools in order for dealers to gain more and avoid or predict future losses. In the modern age, traders can virtually calculate, compute, evaluate and determine foreign exchange market’s charting, pricing and technical analysis.

A handful of forex trading tools are available to help beginners, or even expert dealers, to assist them in formulating anaylsis for the currencies exchange rates. These tools are helpful to the traders as they assess, calculate and predict their gain and possible losses. To begin with the forex market, beginners need to practice the business first. One of the training software for forex trading tools that can help beginners, is a Forex Simulator. This system is available online and can be downloaded. Yet, most free downloads of this software are free-trial versions only, and has limited functions. This simulator is a quite convenient for newbies. It is designed to combine forex price date management via advance charting controls and digital record keeping. However, this software is not for real trading, hence, practices only the beginners.

After learning the basics, another forex trading tool that is beneficial to traders is the detrended price oscillator system. This forex technical indicator tool eradicates trend prices by filtering cycles longer than the moving average. This helps traders define the short term cycles and thus the overbought or oversold levels are determined easily.

Another valuable forex trading tool is the software that is predominantly used by brokers. It is also recommendable to traders of all skill levels. This software functions as the global forex trading system and serves as online trading. It has fully operational charting package, white-box language for coding personal indicators and trading strategies. It also has advance features to further assist traders to do their analysis and trade-off tactics.

One must realize that trading takes time to master and there are absolutely no short cuts to this process. These forex trading tools are some of the essential steps to logically calculate the risk that the traders are facing – predicting gains and possible losses. Another strategy to follow is to learn the effect of economic, social and political events on the currency prices. Reading business news can also help traders follow the flow of the foreign exchange market and keeping in touch with the forex community can also be a good way to keep track on the flow of the currency prices.

Online forex has reached a lot of traders all over the world. Beginners are daunted with the technical language used in the foreign exchange market. However, technology has broaden sources to help traders, expert and beginners alike, to improve their trading skills.

The movement of the currencies these days has always been the center of all business transactions. It has been moving extremely, up and down. Its vital role in the economy constantly creates a big fuss either in a small or big enterprise. The trading in forex takes in a high level of risk and may lose lot money, if not handled that well. How to trade forex, one needs to know in any investment in foreign market exchange is that you should not deal your money that you cannot afford to lose.

The foreign market exchange is as simple as buying and selling. How to trade forex is like any other market, one makes an investment on buying a product to sell it with a mark-up on its price. The only difference with the forex market is that you are working with currencies. Take note that in forex, currencies are paired as EURO/USD or USD/JPY. These paired currencies represent the purchase price between the two.

How to trade forex requires higher level of analysis and projection. The buying and selling of currencies moves so fast, and thus needs quick resolution. For example, with EURO/USD rates, it shows how much USD you can buy with one EURO. In a liquid financial market like the forex, values may increase and decrease at any time. If you think Euro will increase against USD values, you buy Euros with USD. If at one point, the USD increases, you sell back the USD, and cash in your profit. That is why; trading in forex market entails a high risk of loss.

Steps on how to trade forex entail a handful of correct information. A lot of firms in the forex do not charge commissions during the process, you pay only the bid or the ask price. The online trading business runs 24 hours; this makes traders have flexibility on when and how to trade. Dealers can borrow money to trade and with the profit earned, they can cover the interest payable on the loan. However, this upsurge the gains and losses. And lastly, forex is an accessible market; you don’t really need a lot of money to start with.

Finally, how to trade forex does not really have to be feared as a market of great risk. True, risky in nature, but before deciding to trade foreign exchange one should carefully consider the investment objectives, level of experience and the ability to embrace the risk. One important thing, a loss on some of your invested money or maybe all of it is a typical occurrence in the business – which should make you not invest money that you cannot afford to lose.

Massaging my baby is a loving way to bond with her. I believe that my baby may enjoy the benefit from a full body massage. I spend 5-10 minutes giving gently massage to my baby. I do this after her bath. I talk and sing while massaging her and she usually smiles, coos and looks at me. I feel that she enjoy my massage.

I start massaging her one leg from pelvic joint down towards the ankle. I massage her stomach gently with a circular direction and I smoothly glide my palm on her chest. I massage her wrist and hand and let her lie on his stomach for me to gently stroke her back from neck to buttocks.

The following are the benefits from massaging a baby:

Massage can enhance the bond between me and my baby.

It helps my baby to relax.

Enables my baby to have a better sleep.

Ease my baby’s fussiness.

How will I know if my baby has food allergy?

As a mother, we are very concerned to what our baby is eating. It is a fact that food allergies are much more common in families with a history of allergy, including asthma, hay fever, eczema and food allergies. Some food allergies are easy to see as soon as the food is eaten for the first or second time (e.g. flushed face, red and itchy rash around the mouth or tongue – can spread to the entire body, sneezing, watering of eyes, vomiting and diarrhea).

Baby Food

Delayed allergies may also be a problem for babies. When this happens, it is sometimes difficult to pinpoint a particular food that causes the problem. However, it can be distinguished by taking a look on the usual main culprits of food allergies like cow’s milk, soya , egg, nuts, wheat and shellfish.

What should I do if allergy happens?

Try to eliminate or removed the suspected foods that cause allergies from your baby’s diet. These will get better only when it is removed. In doing this, it is still better to seek guidance from a doctor with experience in handling baby with food allergies. It is never a good idea to try an elimination of diet without support from an expert as the nutrients lost in key parts of your baby’s diets are crucial to your baby’s growth and development and needs to be replaced.

So, the best thing to handle baby food allergy is not to panic and talk to your doctor.

World Health Organization (WHO), suggested that baby must be exclusively breastfeed until 6 months. The reason to wait is because mother’s milk will provide the nutrients needed for the baby to grow and develop. However, we know that baby can tolerate food a little earlier starting on their 4th month. Every baby is different, so you might look at some signs of your baby when she is ready for solid foods.

The followings are the signs that I considered before I let my baby try solid food:
1. My baby seems hungry all the time.
2. My baby is putting and chewing her fingers in the mouth.
3. My baby is excited whenever I am eating. She shows interest in what I am doing, sometimes extending her hand.

I actually introduced solid food to my baby exactly on her 5th months. I started giving her Rice-based Milk Cereal and I make a home-made puree. My baby is still young, so she still needs to consume more milk. According to my baby’s pediatrician, a baby at this age must still be fed for about 500-600ml of milk a day.

I do note the feeding routines of my baby. I feed my baby with milk in the morning and other milk feeds throughout the day. I let her eat the puree in mid day, where she is very active so that she will be attentive to what she is eating. Another bottle of milk before bedtime.

Home-made puree is the best first solid food that you must let your baby try. So, I allot some time to cook my baby’s food. You can also see video below on how to make puree (Credits to: www.thefoodrecipe.com - Baby Food Recipes Link

Expelling a small amount of milk after feeds, is normal. Usually, this is caused when bubbles of air become trapped while feeding. Normal twisting will usually bring these up. In some cases, it will also reappear in baby’s nose. My baby also vomits whenever I suddenly moved her up after feeding. For this reason, I tried different ways on how I handle her after every feeding.

The followings are the things that I do to minimize the vomiting incident of my baby:

1. Handle baby gently after feeding, particularly when twisting, moving or turning her upright to burp.

2. I give smaller but regular feed rather than filling her tummy to full.

3. I keep my baby in upright angle position while feeding her.

4. If she falls asleep as soon as after feeding, I raise her head in the cot by slightly placing a pillow underneath the mattress to lift her to a slight angle. I do not use a too soft pillow to avoid the tendency of suffocation if she moves.

It is also indicated in every milk container to use only the indicated number of scoop for each ounce that you mix with water. This is to ensure that the baby will meet the nutritional requirements that she needed every day. However, what kind of specific water is best for our babies in mixing their milk formula?

I personally use Dr. Edwards Sterilized Drinking water during my baby’s early stage but as her milk demand increase, I changed to boiled water. Frequently buying of ready sterilized bottled water is costly. I just take tap water and boil it then let it cool down. You must let the boiled water to be cooled to about body temperature before adding powder to maintain the number of living cultures in the milk. If you are travelling and unsure of the tap water quality of your place then, you might consider buying bottled water and boiled it.

Can I use mineral water when preparing my baby’s milk formula?

Mineral water is not recommended in the preparation of milk formula. It contains some minerals that the baby does not need. Your baby’s milk is already a correct balance of minerals that your baby needed and adding additional content in the form of mineral water can agitate the balance.

I ended up bottle feeding my baby instead of breastfeeding for a reason that my baby is not comfortable to be fed in breast because of bottle confusion. (Click this link to view my my previous story about it). In this topic, I wanted to share with you on what did I do to encourage bonding with my baby, even if she is bottle feed.

Creating the experience of being fed satisfactory and pleasurable is essential whether you are breastfeeding or bottle-feeding. Comforting your baby physically is the most important factor of this. What I did to encourage bonding with my baby is to hold my baby close to me and let her know that she is guarded and protected. I keep her pressed close to my chest so that she can hear my heartbeat and smell my natural scent. I speak in low tones to her and sing. I always ensure to have an eye to eye contact. I smoothly rub her chin, and encourage her to do the same in return.

Babies love to be embrace and held, so I do skin to skin contact from time to time, which imitate the breastfeeding experience. I make it a routine so that my baby knows what to expect and looks ahead to this as affirmative experience.
